Summer, After Dark

Salt in my hair, the sun sinking slow,

bare feet carrying trouble I already know.

The air stays warm... it wants me to stay,

The night’s got plans that I've got to play

The sky turns gold, then fades to blue,

and suddenly everything feels brand new.

Boards by the wall, skin warm from the day,

the ocean keeps time in a steady, soft sway.

It hums like it has a secret it won’t fully tell,

pulling us closer under its spell.

Golden hour lying, saying “just one more,”

We fall for the sunset like we haven’t done it before.

One more song, one more laugh, one more chance,

to let a small look turn into a dance.

We fall for the sunset the same way we do...

knowing it ends, still hoping for new.

Music drifts out from the nearby bar,

a beat in the distance, not too near, not too far.

It finds our steps, then finds our grin,

turns strangers into something like kin.

We move like the night is on our side,

with the ocean watching, amused by the tide.

Summer feels endless when clocks lose their say,

when night comes fast but refuses to feel gray.

Stars flicker on like they’ve got time to spare,

and everything simple feels strangely rare.

We talk a little softer, laugh a little loud,

perfectly happy blending into the crowd.

The tide slides in with a confident grace,

salt on our lips, wind in our face.

Paradise shows when you stop trying to find,

magic appears when you loosen your mind.

No plans, no pressure, just heat and light,

Some things are perfect only in the summer night.
