The Season of “We’ll See” and Other Life Plans

Somewhere in the year, we say “we’ll see” with more honesty and less vagueness. It's no longer the lazy version people use to dodge a plan they already hate. But the one you say when you genuinely don’t know yet, and you’re done pretending you do.

It’s a strange place to live, mentally. You’re just… in between. Still showing up. Still paying bills. Still answering messages. Still making dinner. But your future feels slightly out of focus, like someone smudged the lens and forgot to wipe it clean.

People around you keep making plans with confidence. They announce things. They book flights six months out. They decide, they commit, they post about it...

Meanwhile, you’re over here trying to pick a direction.

“We’ll see” becomes the safest sentence. It covers a lot and nothing at all.

It covers the job you might leave, but not today. The move you keep thinking about, but haven’t done yet. The relationship you can feel changing, even if you haven’t said the words out loud. The idea you keep circling because part of you wants it and part of you doesn’t.

It also covers the more ordinary stuff.

Plans with friends you genuinely want to see, but you don’t know what your energy will be like next week. Projects you might start if your brain stops feeling like a browser with too many pages open. Goals that sounded exciting in January and now feel slightly fictional or even dull.

“We’ll see” isn’t an excuse.

The truth is, you can’t force clarity. You can’t schedule a breakthrough for Thursday at 3 PM between errands and work.

But it isn't permanent. You will know soon enough. Until then, you keep moving. You make smaller plans. You do what’s in front of you. You leave some doors half-open.

And when people ask what you’re doing next, you say the truth.

We’ll see.
