July Made Me Do It

July doesn’t do subtle; it does bold.
It cranks the whole world up past control.
Long days that glow, warm breeze that calls your name,
and suddenly “behave” feels like a game.
Rules start to blur. Self-control slips away.
It’s not a flaw, it’s just… a July day.
That sun hits hard, that heat flips,
and “maybe later” turns to a slip.
This is my month. My light. My spark.
Joy and dances when it's dark.
Freedom, no lecture, no “be wise,”
just open windows, laughter, and beautiful lies.
In July, time loosens up its tie.
The nights run wild, the weekdays learn to fly.
And I say yes to things I’d stall all year,
not reckless, no, just finally fully here.
That heat will do it. Burns the extra off.
Melts every mask. Turns doubt into a "what if".
It makes “I shouldn’t” sound like outdated news,
and “I deserve it” feels like something true.
So if I’m out too late, if I’m too bright,
if my laugh lands loud and goes the whole night,
if I move like I don’t owe time a thing,
and time can’t tell me what my life should bring,
Don’t turn it sour. Don’t judge it. Don’t frame it.
Don’t make it gossip just because I didn't name it.
I’m not “too much.” I’m just in my delight.
July wrote the rules. I’m following them… alright?
July made me do it. That’s the excuse.
And honestly? I’d do it twice for proof.
